Hughes River Rally Benefits Ritchie County, WV Humane Society

Hughes River Promotions is hosting the Hughes River Rally, filled with live entertainment, food and family fun to benefit the Ritchie County, WV Humane Society. It will be held on July 10, 11 &12, 2009, 25 miles east of Parkersburg on Highway 47 in Macfarlan, WV.

Macfarlan, WV, July 03, 2009 --(PR.com)-- In today’s struggling times, Hughes River Promotions felt the need to step up and help the county offset the rising cost of animal care at the shelter. Carlos Arsiniega said “We understand the pressures of today's world. People are losing their jobs, their cars and being forced to make decisions they thought they would never have to make. Animals are suffering greatly from today's economy and are often overlooked. Shelters are receiving animals across the country in record numbers and others are left to fend for themselves while families try to survive. Our goal is to hopefully expand the building and provide extra bedding, food and medicine for this shelter." This humane society is currently fostering animals of four other counties including Wirt, Doddridge, Calhoun and Gilmer.

Hughes River Promotions was established by Carlos Arsiniega and Dora Kroese to primarily raise funds for non-profit organizations in Ritchie County as well as surrounding areas throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley. Since purchasing this once neglected property, they have worked cleaning the field and ridding the overgrowth making an attractive setting to host events like this one. “This is going to be a fun filled family event with lots of motorcycles to see and great performances by The Hart Brothers, The Sheppard Brothers and The Buckeye Travelers on Friday. On Saturday former Byrds members in Younger Than Yesterday and Karen Crawford will perform. There will also be performances by local band Hardriven and local DJ Tom Marlowe will provide music throughout the day.”

There will be a 30 mile parade/ride through the county so residents can see the bikes, and bikers can enjoy the beautiful surroundings Ritchie County has to offer. There will be vendors, food, crafters and more. There will be a poker run, people’s choice bike show, 50/50 raffle, door prizes and games. Tent camping is permitted for the weekend at no extra cost. The gates open at 8 am and tickets are $25 per day or only $35 for the entire weekend. Children under 12 are free. The DJ will start the music at 9 am. The local band will take the stage in the afternoon, and the Bluegrass concert will start at 5 pm on Friday.

It is open to everyone and everyone is invited to attend. Dora Kroese said “You don’t have to have a motorcycle to attend. Come see the bikes that will be here and vote on your favorite bike in the People’s Choice Bike Show.” Hughes River Promotions has targeted the motorcycle riders because of their fun loving spirit and generosity towards non-profit organizations. Most of these guys are professionals that love to get together with friends over the weekend, go ride some scenic highways, and come to a gathering to help make a difference for organizations in need. What better place for a beautiful sightseeing ride than the roads of Wild and Wonderful West Virginia? It is located on National Scenic Hwy 47 across from Oxbow Road in Macfarlan WV. Signs will be posted the day before the event. Please use extra caution when rounding the bend in Macfarlan and keep an eye out for traffic.

Hughes River Promotions is still looking for crafters and food vendors interested in selling at this event. They are still looking for volunteers, as well, to assist in parking, trash clean up and any other general assistance needed throughout the weekend. “Any non-profit organization wishing to hold their bake sale, or craft sale here during this weekend are more than welcome. We will try to assist them any way we can. It would be a great opportunity to make a little extra money for their group as well.” If anyone is interested in a craft booth, a food booth, a non profit booth or just volunteering, you can call Dora at 304-477-3934.
