Porscha Parker Releases Debut Solo Album, “P.E.A.C.E”
Former Disney Teen Star Makes Pop Rock Album Featuring YouTube Video Hit Single, “P.E.A.C.E”
Los Angeles, CA, July 03, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Porscha Parker’s debut solo album, “P.E.A.C.E” was officially released today and is now available on CD and digitally via iTunes and other digital download sites. The twelve track album is an introspective pop/rock collection showcasing Porscha’s powerful voice and youthful exuberance. The compelling video for the album’s first single, “P.E.A.C.E” - inspired by Obama’s recent win, has already spawned a grassroots YouTube following, having amassed nearly 50,000 viewer hits.
Porscha, a former teenage Disney on Ice star, was “discovered” by Stevie Wonder at the age of six, chosen from a crowded audience to join him on stage in a duet. “P.E.A.C.E” expands on Mr. Wonder’s premonition of a talented budding singer, and shows Porscha taking her vocal talents to the next level.
“P.E.A.C.E,” is a compelling contribution to pop/rock that is somewhat unique coming from an African-American twenty-something. Several of the songs are written by Porscha, chronicling the emotional ups and downs of being a young woman in America. Porscha’s songs demonstrate a maturity beyond her years, an expressive, strong voice and a songwriting talent reminiscent of Alanis Morissette, another teen star that went the rock music route in her twenties.
The album’s first single, “P.E.A.C.E” carries a strong political message for harmony and equality. Other standout tracks include “I Live in L.A.”, a stark self-written loveletter to the crazy world of Hollywood and “Waiting for My Life to Start” a poignant, empowering coming-of-age song that has the potential to become an anthem of a generation.
Porscha reflects, “I worked with some of the most talented people in the industry on this album and wanted to create something meaningful and break out of the conventional shell. If my music touches and inspires people at the soul, whether it’s a young woman my age or a soldier overseas, then I’ve succeeded."
The album was produced by world-renowned Grammy award-winner Jim Wirt (Fiona Apple, Incubus) and engineered by the legendary Doug Sax (Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones). It was recorded at Santa Monica’s legendary 4th Street Recording.
