Quub Announces Advisory Board to Advance Technological Progress

Well Known Collaborative Computing Researchers Join quub Board to Bring Further Focus to the Utility of Status Updates.

Irvine, CA, July 06, 2009 --(PR.com)-- quub, the service that makes continuous status updates quick and painless, has announced the formation of the quub advisory board, consisting of leading researchers in social and collaborative computing with expertise in areas such as mobile technology, artificial intelligence and social-technical systems.

quub’s board will enable the company to call upon their strategic insights to ensure continued innovation, ultimately driving value for quub users. The founding members of quub’s advisory board are Dr. Paul Dourish of University of California Irvine, Dr. Nathan Eagle of MIT, and Dr. Henry Kautz of the University of Rochester.

Dr. Paul Dourish
Dr. Dourish is a professor of Informatics in the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences at UC Irvine. His primary research interests lie at the intersection of computer science and social science. Before coming to UCI, he was a Senior Member of Research Staff in the Computer Science Laboratory of Xerox PARC; he has also held research positions at Apple Computer and at Rank Xerox EuroPARC. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from University College, London.

Dr. Nathan Eagle
Dr. Eagle is a research scientist at MIT and a Omidyar Fellow at the Santa Fe Institute. His research involves applying machine learning and network analysis techniques to large human behavioral datasets. He holds a BS and two MS degrees from Stanford University and a Ph.D. from MIT.

Dr. Henry Kautz
Dr. Kautz’s research encompasses artificial intelligence, pervasive computing, and assistive technology. He had 13 years of industrial experience at AT&T Bell Laboratories, where he was head of the AI Principles Research Department. In 2000 he became a faculty member at the University of Washington. From 2006 to 2007 he founded and directed the Intelligent Systems Center at Kodak Research. He is currently the chair of the department of Computer Science at the University of Rochester.

“quub places a priority on maximizing value for users and the advisory board will only further our collaboration with leading opinions in the field of collaborative computing to ensure we continue to drive innovation," said Don Patterson, CTO and co-founder of quub. “For this reason, we are grateful to Drs. Dourish, Eagle, and Kautz for joining our efforts to lead the discussion on status updates, machine learning, ambient communications, and the overall utility of social computing.”
