Dr. Jerry Parks Inducted Into the National Teachers Hall of Fame

Georgetown Middle School teacher selected among five educators for profession's highest teaching accolade.

Lexington, KY, July 05, 2009 --(PR.com)-- After being named to the USA-TODAY All-American Teacher Team, Dr. Jerry L. Parks assumed there was nothing more to achieve outside the classroom. He was established author, having written among others, the national bestselling book "So, You Want to Become a National Board Certified Teacher", and in the religious realm "God, Help Me Pray!" However, Dr. Parks had a surprise. He was recently named to the National Teachers Hall of Fame in an induction ceremony in Emporia, KS.

Parks teaches at Georgetown Middle School in Georgetown, KY (Scott Co.). He has taught for 25 years, and earned virtually every teaching honor there is. However, to be named to the National Teachers Hall of Fame is the culminating achievement according to Parks, and he is anxious to get back to work teaching social studies to 7th graders.

Parks was surprised at his school several months ago when the honor was announced. Superintendent Patricia Putty was there for the announcement. Parks has just finished his ninth book: So, You Want to Become a National Board Certified Teacher: Workbook & Evidence Manual (Weekly Reader Press). He has been a National Board Certified Teacher since 2003.

Is there anything left for Parks to strive for? “I’d like to become a Kentucky Colonel” he states, “but helping other educators and Christians through my books and speaking engagements is reward enough.”
