The Cure for the Summertime Blues: 4th Annual Simi Valley Blues Festival

Free concert announces upcoming charity fundraiser.

Simi Valley, CA, July 06, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The best of the Blues is coming to Simi Valley. On August 22, Michael John & The Bottom Line will stage a free concert from 2 to 5 PM at the Simi Valley Town Center to offer a taste of what is yet to come.

Organized by Kiwanis Club of Simi Valley as the official kickoff to Simi Valley Days, the 4th Annual Blues Festival is slated for September 5 at Rancho Simi Community Park.

The featured stars of the blues music genre will be introduced by Emcee Mickey Jones, the well known personality who has played hundreds of characters in films and on television, including his long stint on "Home Improvement" and his record breaking TV Commercial for "Breath Savers". In his early musical career he played with some of the biggest artists in the industry, including Bob Dylan, Trini Lopez, and The First Edition. Mickey devotes much of his time to charitable events, appearing at the CHOC motorcycle ride each year and playing in many celebrity golf tournaments.

Music Director Michael John Basowski (Michael John & The Bottom Line) has gathered some of his best friends to perform at the charity event. Headlined by the Bone Shakers, the lineup also includes Barry “Big B” Brenner, BB Chung King & The Buddaheads with Alex Dixon, The Delgado Brothers, Doña Oxford, and the Kyle Culkin Band.

The day of music in the park will begin at 10:00 AM and continue until 8:00 PM. Ticket prices are $20 for Adults, Kids 8-12 $2, under 7 free with paid adult. All proceeds will go to the charities supported by Kiwanis.
