First Books a Gem
13 year old author Aaron Arkens creates his first published book. Talks about his adventures from the first word to the day it became published.
Detroit, MI, June 13, 2005 --(PR.com)-- Over one year after his first key stroke, 13 year old Aaron Arkens received an e-mail from Outskirts press saying that his book, Wind in the Night, had been accepted. Instantly he felt happiness overcome him. After hours of researching other publishers and experiencing a few rejections, his dream was actually going to come true.
“I just couldn’t believe it! The moment I read the e-mail, I almost screamed I was so happy” Aaron recalled.
Even though his book was already written, he still had a large task ahead of him. He had to organize the cover, take author photo’s, proof read a lot, and wait anxiously for an e-mail saying that the book was actually published and going out into stores.
On May 6th, he finally received that e-mail. “I opened up the e-mail expecting to see a normal reminder to get something done or a new thing to be done. Then I saw the first sentence. It read, “Congratulations! Your book is published!”
“At that moment I was the happiest kid alive. The only thought that ran through my head was, ‘I did it, I actually did it!’.”
A day or so later, he was holding his very own author’s copy in his hand. He stared in disbelief at it as his reflection from the glossy cover stared back. It was just how he wanted it, perfect, couldn’t be better. The layout featured a monstrous tornado right on the front cover. Flipping it around he saw his author photo smiling back at him.
“Through this experience, I learned that no matter how young you are, if you believe in yourself, you can accomplish remarkable things.” Aaron said smiling. He was right too, no matter the circumstances, you can do great things.
