The Clare at Water Tower - Photography by Marian Kraus
Chicago area based Marian Kraus Photography was recently contracted by Bovis Lend Lease (http://www.bovislendlease.com/), one of the leading international project management and construction companies, and Perkins + Will (http://perkinswill.com/), a top tier internationally acclaimed architectural firm, with the architectural photography assignment of the interior spaces of The Clare at Water Tower (http://www.theclareatwatertower.com/).
Chicago, IL, July 08, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Clare at Water Tower is the first-of-its-kind, high-rise senior living community in Chicago and is thereby one of the tallest residential buildings reserved for seniors anywhere in the world. It was designed Mr. Ralph Johnson, a principal at Perkins + Will, and is the result of a partnership between the Franciscan Sisters and Loyola University to maximize the use of an urban site on Loyola's downtown campus. Located just one block off of Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, it is situated in the heart of Chicago’s prestigious Gold Coast. The Clare offers both housing for seniors and classroom space for Loyola University.
The first three floors of the 56-story high-rise will house Loyola classrooms which allow Loyola to expand its academic facilities. Forty-one levels featuring 250 independent living units, 3 floors of skilled nursing and 3 floors with 52 units of assisted living are allowing the Franciscan Sisters to fulfill their mission of providing much-needed housing for senior citizens. Other levels include a spa and fitness center and public amenities such as dining, libraries, kitchens and administration space. A model of low-impact use for an urban site, the building’s design maximizes views of Chicago’s Water Tower District and Lake Michigan.
The objective of the architectural photography assignment was to aesthetically reveal the artistry and skill that were brought to the project by the architects and various contractors, one of which was also Chicago based James McHugh Construction Company.
Marian Kraus, a member of the ASMP (American Society of Media Photographers), the AIAP (Association of Independent Architectural Photographers) and NPS (Nikon Professional Services) contributed his proficient and artistic vision as well as technical expertise to photograph the various aforementioned interior areas of The Clare.
