The Texas Association of Health Underwriters (TAHU), a professional organization of independent health insurance agents from across the state of Texas who are dedicated to consumer advocacy, attended the convention to meet with agents from across the country and discuss the future of the health insurance industry.
“It’s our responsibility to be aware of the all the possible twists and turns the health insurance industry could take,” TAHU president Rusty Rice said, “Fifty-five chapter representatives traveled to New York City to learn from some of the leading professionals in the field, hear from influential legislators and better the profession of health insurance agents.”
The 79th Annual NAHU Convention and Exhibition was attended by approximately 575 chapter members nationwide. Outgoing TAHU president Ron Buffum was awarded a Presidential Citation and Distinguished Service Award for his past leadership and initiatives as president. The Texas Chapter received a Landmark Award and Legislative Excellence Award for efforts throughout the year. The convention began on June 29, 2009 and concluded on July 1, 2009.
