Telerik’s Q2 2009 Release Expands All-in-One .NET Offering
First 3D Chart for Silverlight, Full-featured Silverlight Scheduler, Visual Style Builder and Free Testing Solution Are Among Enhancements to Telerik Premium Collection for .NET
Newton, MA, July 10, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Telerik, a leading vendor of development tools and user interface components for .NET, announced the Q2 2009 release of its RadControls UI components, Reporting, ORM and Web Testing solutions. Among the highlights of the enhanced Telerik Premium Collection for .NET are the first commercial 3D Chart for Silverlight, taking data visualization to another dimension; a full-featured Silverlight Scheduler, combining Outlook-style convenience with slick interface and advanced editing capabilities; and Visual Style Builder, enabling easy, point-and-click customization of skins for Telerik’s RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX.
The new volume also introduces another product to Telerik’s portfolio: WebAii Testing Framework, a product by ArtOfTest, a free Web Testing solution for automating AJAX- and Silverlight-powered Rich Internet Applications. Telerik announced WebAii Testing Framework separately today.
“Especially in this challenging business climate, enterprises feel tremendous competitive pressure to roll out increasingly rich, responsive and interactive Web applications,” commented Al Hilwa, Program Director for IDC's Application Development Software research. “Consequently, developers need tools that abstract away the complexity of the rapidly changing .NET environment if they are to deliver applications on time and under budget.”
“There is always a buzz in the office whenever Telerik ships a major update and the Q2 2009 release is no exception,” said Josef Rogovsky, General Manager at Lifeline Total IT Solutions, Inc. “The new Listbox, Captcha, Panel and Image controls are incredible, and the new Visual Style Builder is impressive. Working with Telerik’s controls has consistently saved us time and money. Their unparalleled support gives me confidence that real help is available when needed. I very much consider them an extension of my own developer team.”
With the Q2 2009 release, Telerik brings major additions to the market’s most comprehensive pack of more than 30 Silverlight controls. Telerik’s 3D Chart for Silverlight, the first commercial product of its kind, will help developers create stunning visualizations of large volumes of data. The new full-featured Scheduler for Silverlight will enable developers to easily add Outlook-style scheduling functionality to their web applications.
“Our Q2 release of the Telerik Premium Collection for .NET brings us another step closer to supporting the developer community in all aspects of the development lifecycle,” added Svetozar Georgiev, Telerik CEO. “Many of our customers look to Telerik as a one-stop shop for Microsoft .NET development tools and components. We continually enhance and expand our portfolio to address developers’ new challenges and strengthen our unique position in the Microsoft .NET vendor community as a holistic provider of complete solutions.”
Most of Telerik’s Silverlight components have identical Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) counterparts, so that developers can re-use skills and code between the two platforms. Both the Silverlight and WPF suites are derived from the same code base and share the same application programming interface (API). Thanks to this innovative approach, Telerik makes building mirror web and desktop applications with identical user interfaces much easier. Seven new controls, derived from their Silverlight counterparts, are added to RadControls for WPF: Drag & Drop, ComboBox and Window, among them.
The ASP.NET AJAX suite further establishes its position as the industry’s leading and most comprehensive toolset by expanding with several new controls and productivity tools. The axis of the new release is the introduction of the Visual Style Builder – a web-based skin customization tool, which allows you to tweak or build new skins with point-and-clicks, without writing a single line of CSS code. RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX has been enhanced with four more controls and across-the-board performance optimizations.
With the new release, Telerik also continues its dedication to providing a line of desktop components that is at the same time visually aesthetic and superior in performance. The new WinForms volume features performance enhancements in the underlying framework, resulting in minimized memory footprint and efficient re-painting. RadControls for WinForms reveals also a new major version of RadDock, with an abundance of new features and excellent drawing performance.
With Q2 2009, Telerik’s enterprise-grade ORM, OpenAccess, offers full support for Views, which wraps up the database-supported features – Stored Procedures, Views and Tables – and, thus, becomes one of the few tools to offers such functionality. Another highlight of the new OpenAccess version is the support for SQL2000 and the enhanced Stored Procedures support for ORACLE, MSSQL 2000 and MySQL.
Telerik Reporting delivers enhanced performance and user experience with the new wizard for Cross Tabs, making the creation of highly informative reports a breeze. The tool brings also a convenient multi-page view for the Windows Viewer.
Pricing
The price of the Telerik Premium Collection for .NET (including all suites, Reporting and OpenAccess ORM) is $1,299 per developer seat. The license comes with priority support (guaranteed 24-hour response time), full C# source code, redistribution rights and free updates for the latest products for one year. All the tools work without license keys and can be freely deployed on an unlimited number of development, testing and production servers. A step-by-step self-paced tutorial and hundreds of code samples are provided to accelerate learning.
All component suites and tools are also available individually.
