R & B Singer JaMiel Cox to Compete in the Urban Music Awards/America’s Next Urban Superstar 2009 Competition
Los Angeles, CA, July 12, 2009 --(PR.com)-- R& B Singing Sensation Jamiel Cox Goes Urban.
Up and coming R& B Singer JaMiel Cox announces he will contend in America’s Next Urban Superstar 2009 Competition. In conjunction with the Seventh Annual Urban Music Awards the competition will be held on July 17, 2009 at The Hammerstein Ballroom, in New York, NY. Auditions to participate in the competition will commence the morning of the Urban Music Awards and ten finalists will be announced the night of the broadcast UMA’s. One lucky finalist will be crowned America’s Next Urban Superstar before millions of viewers, and granted the opportunity to perform live on stage.
Jamiel Cox began his music career early as a teenager, and received stage presence training from mentor Rev.Watkins, the father of Tionne “T-Boz Watkins formerly of the platinum selling female group TLC. His self debut album, ‘Lost’ reached internet billboard charts top fourteen, positioning Mr. Cox music with artists such as Britney Spears, and R& B singer Usher. Cox received word that he had been chosen to vie in the Competition, and he is now gearing up to showcase his flair and great voice on stage. His music can be heard not only in the states but in Japan and Europe as well.

Especially since the Urban Music Awards is the first justly independent awards ceremony that gives music fans direct control and input on whom they nominate and vote for. Mr. Cox music is influenced by artist such as Stevie Wonder, Prince and the late Michael Jackson, and he had the distinct pleasure of performing as background singer to Angie Stone at the Trump Awards. With a multitude of projects in the works this year including attending and appearing on the red carpet of Urban Music Awards. Cox is currently organizing a college campus tour in the fall, where he anticipates donating proceeds from the sell of his CD’s to his Alumni Florida A&M University.
