Computer Programmer Buys Other People Gadgets to Pay His Own Bills
Bristol, RI, August 26, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Armed with a weekly paycheck from his day job and a website, Jason Tavares is aiming to secure his financial future. His plan is simple: use his paycheck to purchase popular gadgets and use his website to give them away.
Newly engaged and faced with student loans, car payments, and the daunting task of finding affordable housing, Tavares decided to get creative. Employing his skills as a computer programmer, he started a website built upon everyone's favorite word: free.
Since its launch on July 29, theFreeLot.com has given away $600 worth of prizes to its visitors. While at this point the purchases can only be considered philanthropic, Tavares hopes his gamble will soon start to pay off. "I know purchasing ipods, digital cameras, and other goodies each week is an expensive proposition, but I also know that the prizes have to be worthwhile for the visitors. With great prizes, this could definitely be considered and investment in my future."
How could buying these gadgets possibly be considered an investment? Jason explains in his weblog that by attracting large numbers of people in search of free gadgets, he also hopes to attract advertisers capable of supporting theFreeLot as well as its founder.
Just under a month old, with over 900 users and 1000 entries each day, theFreeLot.com is starting to create a buzz on the Internet. "The response has been much more than I ever anticipated. It's extremely gratifying for me that after four months of development my project is finally in the hands of the users, and they really seem to like it!"
The contests at theFreeLot are available to all US residents, 18 years or older. Visit the site at http://www.thefreelot.com
