Alfred M. King, CMA, CFM, vice chairman of Marshall & Stevens Incorporated, took top honors in the 2008-09 manuscript competition of the Institute of Management Accountants ("IMA"). He received the Lybrand Gold Medal for his article, “Mark to Market: Is It the Solution, or Is It the Problem?” which was published in the January 2009 issue of Strategic Finance magazine as “Determining Fair Value.”

Alfred M. King, CMA, CFM, vice chairman of Marshall & Stevens Incorporated, took top honors in the 2008-09 manuscript competition of the Institute of Management Accountants ("IMA"). He received the Lybrand Gold Medal for his article, “Mark to Market: Is It the Solution, or Is It the Problem?” which was published in the January 2009 issue of Strategic Finance magazine as “Determining Fair Value.”
This is Mr. King’s first Gold Medal in the competition. He also has received one Silver Medal, two Bronze Medals, and several Certificates of Merit over the years. This year’s awards were presented at IMA’s prestigious Annual Conference & Exposition June 6-10, 2009, in Denver, CO.
The Lybrand Medals and Certificates of Merit honor individuals whose outstanding achievements have enriched the knowledge and understanding of management accounting and finance and have greatly contributed to IMA’s stature as an organization and thought leader. More than 100 articles were submitted this year, and the top 19 published articles were reviewed by the Lybrand Awards Committee to determine the winners of the Lybrand Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals, which honor the first-, second-, and third-place winners. The medals are donated by the partners of PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, in memory of William M. Lybrand, a founding partner of the firm and the second president of IMA.
