Onion-Hurling Vandals in Custody After Sonitrol Pacific Detection

Portland, OR, July 15, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Police took two people suspected of vandalizing a Portland market into custody after Sonitrol Pacific’s electronic security detected them July 12.

Sonitrol Pacific Operator Kris Etheridge received the impact-activated audio alarm from the security system at Strohecker’s Market just after three in the morning, followed by banging noises and what sounded by glass breaking. She called Portland Police, then a representative from the store.

By the time the store employee arrived at the facility, police already had two of four suspected vandals in custody.

According to officers, the vandals threw a bag of onions through one of the market’s windows.

Since 1978, detection of suspicious activity by Sonitrol Pacific has led to the arrest of more than 5,100 suspects. The locally owned and operated company focuses on electronic security that provides the earliest possible detection of criminal activity, allowing police to arrive on scene and arrest suspects in minutes.
