Small Business Taps SBA for Growth Opportunities

Chicago, IL, July 16, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Industria Inc. was founded in 1993, by David M. Rambhajan, a Veteran owned small business, offering construction and project management services. His firm has successfully completed the rigorous process of obtaining the U.S. Small Business Administration 8(a) certification.
The SBA's 8(a) Program, named for a section of the Small Business Act, is a business development program created to help small and disadvantaged businesses compete in the American economy, and to gain access to the Federal Procurement market. The SBA's 8(a) Business Development program is intended to help small businesses be successful for the future. Companies', like Industria Inc., in a growth stage, can benefit from the wide-range of services that the program offers—support for government contractors, access to capital, management and technical assistance, along with export assistance—just to name a few.
Mr. Rambhajan has also recently completed the SBA’s Emerging 200 Inaugural Class. The goal of the SBA Emerging 200 initiative is to identify inner-city businesses across the country that show a high potential for growth—and to provide them the network, resources and motivation required to build a sustainable business of size and scale within a designated inner-city geographic location.
The E200 Program enabled Mr. Rambhajan to engage in an intensive curriculum focused on developing a winning, expansion strategy for his business, including options for capital access and contracting. He had the opportunity to work with experienced mentors, attend workshops and develop connections with peers, city leaders, and the financial community.
The SBA offers a number of assistance and intervention services that assist small and emerging firms like Industria in managing and growing their firms. Industria has been able to double its prior year’s revenues and is poised for significant growth, largely due to small business programs.
