Michigan Filmmakers Prepare to Produce Uplifting Drama "The River"

Detroit, MI, July 16, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Michigan-based corporate and broadcast video director Robert Gothro will make his big screen directing debut with the Marc Prey-scripted drama, "The River." Gothro and Prey will produce under their newly-formed company, Moving Pictures Entertainment, LLC, with filming scheduled to take place later this year in the Detroit area.

The story revolves around a despondent cab driver planning to take his own life, only to have his plans interrupted by an elderly fare on her way to a hospice center.

"It's a story of loss, redemption and hope," Prey said. "It's something we feel will truly hit home with audiences, particularly given the current state of our country."

The production has hired veteran casting director Pamela Guest for Hollywood casting, and have held discussions with the management for former Detroiters Kristen Bell and Ellen Burstyn regarding two of the key roles.

Gothro has more than 27 years' experience directing and producing film and video for broadcast programming, commercials, sports and large-scale public and corporate venues.

Prey wrote "All I Want for Christmas" for Hallmark and Larry Levinson Productions and is a member of the Michigan Film Office Advisory Council.
