Music from the Motion Picture Thirst by Park Chan-wook to be Released on Milan Records on Tuesday July 28, 2009
New York, NY, July 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- A priest becomes a vampire… another man’s wife is coveted… a deadly seduction triggers murder. Thirst is the new film from director Park Chan-wook (Old Boy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance).
A box office smash in Korea, Thirst was honored with the Prix du Jury (Jury Prize) at the 2009 Cannes International Film Festival.
As in his previous work, Park juxtaposes serene classical music and harrowing moments of violence. The film’s score, with an emphasis on strings and woodwinds, draws from Bach’s Cantata BWV 82a and original compositions by Cho Young-wuk, Park’s longtime friend and collaborator, Hong Yoo-jin, Lee Jung-hee, Seok Seung-hee, and Hong Dae-sung.
Milan Records is releasing the album digitally on July 28, 2009. A Cute Vampire, the film’s main musical theme, can be streamed at www.milanrecords.com.

What they say about Thirst:
Director Park Chan-wook’s richest, craziest, most mature work yet.
– Richard Corliss, TIME
Thirst is not, as some observers expected, a return to a more audience friendly approach - Park is aiming far above the heads of mainstream viewers. But even as it confounds some audiences, Thirst's sheer creativity and cinematic brio will drive word of mouth...
– Darcy Paquet, Screen International
Thirst is the first masterpiece of 2009. It horrifies you one second, makes you laugh out loud and deeply moves you.
– Blake Ethridge, Cinema is Dope
Thirst is nominally a vampire film, but it's part of his unorthodox manner that he makes a flamboyant piece of work without being mannered. It's also horrifyingly funny.
– Patrick Z. McGavin, Stop Smiling
