Water Missions International Restructures Management Team as Part of Growth Plan

Charleston, SC, August 30, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Water Missions International, the Charleston-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing sustainable access to safe water in developing countries and disaster areas, has experienced a ten fold increase in water projects over the last two years, spurring the need to restructure and broaden its management team. Water Mission International’s mission is to bring safe drinking water and Christian love to the 1.2 billion people in the world who lack access to clean water.

"The extraordinary support we received in response to our efforts on behalf of the victims of the tsunami in Indonesia and Sri Lanka and Hurricane Katrina in Mississippi and Louisiana has led to significant growth for our organization, and this growth has placed us in a new and greatly enhanced position to accomplish our mission," commented Water Missions International (WMI) founder George Greene. "As we now find ourselves with many opportunities, we also recognize the need to grow our internal structure if we are to take full advantage of the opportunities."

Working with strategic planners, WMI founders George and Molly Greene, together with the WMI board of directors, have concluded that the organization is now in need of a chief executive officer to guide the overall management and development for the organization, a move that will allow the Greenes to focus their energy and talents on developing and nurturing strategic partnerships and building engineering capacity. Since the organization’s inception in 2001, the Greenes have performed all of these roles.

"We’re excited about the opportunity to be free of the day-to-day management of the organization so we can focus our energies on developing strategic partnerships and engineering capacity," commented Greene. "In order to fully accomplish the mission of WMI, we need someone to focus on guiding the daily activities and fund development, and at the same time we need to develop our services."

The WMI board and staff have begun the search for a full time chief executive officer to work with George and Molly Greene, now assuming the roles of Founder and Chief of Engineering, and Founder and Chief of Philanthropy, respectively.

"We find ourselves at an enviable, but challenging crossroads," said Bill Hewitt, chairman of the WMI board. "Building on such growth and success, we need to expand and fully develop our internal structure. After prayerful consideration, the Greenes recommended this new structure and we feel it will position us to take WMI to new heights."

Water Missions International (WMI), registered as a Private Voluntary Organization (PVO) with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is a Christian organization dedicated to providing sustainable access to safe water and an opportunity to hear the "Living Water" message in developing countries and disaster areas. Co-founders George and Molly Greene created WMI after becoming aware of the global water crisis when they responded to the devastation in Honduras caused by Hurricane Mitch in 1998. To date, WMI has directly served tens of thousands of people on the Gulf Coast of the U.S. and made access to safe water available to almost a million people in 24 foreign countries. Also working as an advocate on behalf of the more than one billion people who lack access to safe water, WMI's vision is that no person should perish for want of safe drinking water or an opportunity to hear the "Living Water" message.
