Mr. Steven I. Cooper Named to Ezenia! Inc. Board of Advisors
Nashua, NH, July 23, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Ezenia, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: EZEN.OB), a leading provider of real time solutions for situation sensitive and mission critical applications in corporate, government and commercial networks, announced today that Mr. Steven I. Cooper has been appointed to the Ezenia Board of Advisors (BOA). The first meeting of the BOA was held on July 08th, 2009 in the Ezenia office facility located in Sterling, Virginia.
Mr. Cooper is a partner and founding member of Strativest, LLC, a firm focused on identifying emerging technologies applicable to homeland security and emergency response and preparedness, assisting in the development of ‘go-to-market’ actions, and in providing management advisory services for business development and the strategic use of information technology for competitive advantage. He previously held key, senior level technical and managerial information technology positions in both the private and public sectors. He has principally focused on a number of information technology areas, including information integration, enterprise application integration, application development, metrics and value assessments, and process architecture and reengineering.
In addition to 20 years experience in the private sector, Mr. Cooper served at the highest levels of the United States Government. In 2002, he was appointed as a special assistant to the President and served as the senior director for information integration in the White House Office of Homeland Security. In 2003, Mr. Cooper was then appointed as the first Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the newly formed Department of Homeland Security (DHS). In this position, Mr. Cooper had responsibility for all information technology assets supporting 190,000 personnel and 22 agencies. From May 2005 to July 2007, he was senior vice president and CIO of the American Red Cross. Mr. Cooper was responsible for the information technology assets of the Red Cross and leveraging them to support the humanitarian organization’s 35,000 employees and the 300 million Americans they serve. He guided the introduction of a call center during Hurricane Katrina to provide emergency assistance to the more than 4 million people displaced from their homes.
Mr. Cooper was named one of the Top 100 CIOs in America by CIO Insight in 2007. He previously was honored by Government Computer News as the Government Civilian Executive of the Year, by the Northern Virginia Technology Council as a Titan of Technology. In addition, Mr. Cooper was a recipient of the Fed 100 Award, recognizing the 100 most influential people in Federal Government Technology, and was named by the Washington Post as “One of the Five to Watch” while serving in the White House.
“I am intrigued with the prospect of growth and success that Ezenia, as a small business and technology company, could potentially have. While Ezenia’s InfoWorkSpace product line has an excellent reputation of functionality, performance, scalability and reliability, it has the built-in security capability, with an extensive portfolio of defensive and counter-invasive measures, that is of keen interest in my eyes from the information protection perspective,” stated Mr. Cooper. “Strong information protection and stringent privacy protection are the two most pressing challenges, among many others, that we all face and must resolve to provide in the IT industry. I believe that Ezenia has a compelling competitive advantage that needs to be strongly leveraged and aggressively exploited.”
“I am excited and honored to have Mr. Cooper join the Ezenia Board of Advisors and look forward to relying heavily on his advice and counsel,” commented Mr. Khoa Nguyen, Ezenia Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “With his stature and incredible wealth of knowledge, broad hands-on experience, excellent reputation and tremendous respect within the IT community, plus in-depth familiarity of complex deployment and business practices, Steve’s guidance and wisdom will bring a great “go-to-market” and implementation insight as Ezenia expands its business beyond the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community.”
