Kaltura Delivers Video for OSCON 2009
San Jose, CA, July 26, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Kaltura, the world’s first open source online video platform provider, today announced it is powering the video gallery for the O’Reilly Open Source Conference (OSCON) 2009. The gallery includes videos from conference sessions, which can be viewed and syndicated to any site. In addition, users can upload their own videos from OSCON and remix them with Kaltura’s online video editor.
“The Kaltura-powered OSCON video gallery is a great opportunity for those who can’t make it to the conference to catch the sessions, and for attendees to revisit their favorite sessions. Users can grab videos and embed them on their own sites, blogs and social network profiles, as well as upload and remix content – it really keeps the event alive even after it’s physically over,” said Ron Yekutiel, Kaltura Chairman and CEO. “We have worked with several conference organizers to successfully publish and distribute video from their events - this is a great example of how open source video can be used by other publishers and enterprises to provide advanced video functionality to their audiences.”
The video archive – located at http://en.oreilly.com/oscon2009/public/content/community-video -- displays three sections:
Keynotes: full videos with the ability for users to remix and mashup the videos;
Session remixes: highlight reels and finished mashup library
Crowdsourced: allows users to record directly from their webcams and upload files in response to the conference; these clips are then added to the re-mixable content
All sections have the ability to copy the embed code of the current section, paste the code on any site to display a widget of the player and a dynamic playlist, and get RSS updates of new videos.
