Harlem World Magazine, Inc., Completes a Year-Long of Re-Structuring

New York, NY, July 29, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Over the past year, HW has been moving with the technological age and morphing into a dynamic media company approaching its 6th year anniversary. Customers can now access HW content through four platforms — print, online, store and events. HW also sends the latest in Harlem content straight to the subscribers’ phones via text messaging.

Daniel Tisdale, the founder and CEO of HW, says “we strive to keep the company ahead of the curve. The transition was made from being a company that publishes a magazine to being a media company that is a content distributor of Harlem content wherever our customers are,” says Tisdale. HW is ensuring that Harlem content is not only accessible through the traditional print version but online via the latest social networking sites Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace.

The company surveyed readers and found they wanted more news, fashion and gossip. Through their informative and in-depth blogs, HW offers the latest in politics, national, and local news on a daily basis. HW Heard serves up the juiciest gossip and Glam Addicts providing the crème de la crème in fashion.

Veronica Holly has followed HW since its inception in 2003. “I love the fact that it provides content about Harlem: past, present and future,” says Holly, a Harlem resident, regarding the various platforms.

Claudia Sampson, a veteran HW board of directors member, says she has seen amazing growth of the company over the years and loves that it is inclusive of all those within the community. “What’s so good is it’s available,” says Sampson. “It’s available to the people who can contribute as citizen journalists.”

The daily updates, either via blog, email blasts, radio or e-newsletter, keeps Harlemites in the know. HW delivers the fashion and lifestyle component with the HW Store’s signature T-shirts, and annual events. HW Lounge will resume later this year.

HW functions on a customer centered mentality, which is why it values serving the community through its content and partnerships. Allegiance to one’s community is nothing new to the Tisdale family. In fact, Tisdale’s uncle is Charles Tisdale, owner and publisher of the Jackson Advocate and a civil rights leader. The late Tisdale survived two fire bombings and went on to lead the Jackson Advocate to receiving several honors, including the National Black Chamber of Commerce Newspaper of the Year, the Nation of Islam Freedom Fighter Award and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference Journalism Award.

Daniel Tisdale is following in his uncle’s foot steps and creating media that will both inform and assist the Harlem community.

“The foundation has been set so that we’re here for decades to come,” says Tisdale.
