MarKim Farms’ “When Worlds Unite” (Unity) Dominated the Mares at Waterloo’s in-Hand Dressage Competition
Carleton, MI, July 29, 2009 --(PR.com)-- MarKim Farms’ Premium Oldenburg Mare, Unity (Weltmeyer/Elegant Miss), won the ISR/Oldenburg in-hand class with a high score of 80. This was actually the highest score of all mares and fillies shown in all 12 classes. It was also the second highest score of all horses shown in-hand that day in all 17 classes. Unity’s score of 80 was second only to the stallion, Rashka, who scored an 82.8.
Kimberley Ennett of MarKim Farms stated that she was pleased that her Weltmeyer mare had performed so well. Unity was the highest scoring mare at the competition as judged by well-respected Lilo Fore. Ms. Fore commented: well set neck and head, elegant, nice shoulder angle, shows ground cover, quite elastic and swinging in back, uses herself well, very straight in travel, athletic, nice presentation, nice thrust and carriage.
Ms. Ennett said she was particularly pleased that Unity’s performance was comparable to the champion stallion Rashka’s score of 82.8. She noted that this was significant in view of the fact that he was winner of his Stallion Performance test with the highest score in the history of US testing with a score of 164.86. This is possibly the highest overall index in European stallion performance testing as well! Unity was in good company.
In 2004, Unity was presented to the Oldenburg NA and earned an impressive 106 points which took her into the Premium Mare Book. This terrific score earned her a 4th place year-end mare award with the Oldenburg NA. As a foal, Unity earned a top score of 8.5. Unity was also shown in-hand at the USDF Spokane Sporthorse Tournier and won her mare class with a 79.5. She proceeded to become Mare Champion of Show.
Unity has produced premium foals and will be bred to only the top international premium stallions. Ms. Ennett said, “We breed to the best and look forward to her future offspring.” Currently, Unity is confirmed in foal to Freestyle (Florestan I x SPS Paloma) for an April 2010 foal.
Unity (Weltmeyer/Elegant Miss) and Graziella (Rubinstein I/Furioso II) play a key role in the success of MarKim Farms’ breeding program. Ms. Ennett is looking forward to future competitions.
