The Wyatt Holliday Foundation Introduces Its Inaugural Community Walk in Tacoma
Puyallup, WA, July 29, 2009 --(PR.com)-- On Saturday, Sept. 26, The Wyatt Holliday Foundation will hold its inaugural “Exceptional Families 3K Walk & Roll” event in Tacoma to bring families in the community together to show support for children with varying special needs. Owen Beach at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma will be the site for the walk, featuring scenic views of Puget Sound waters. The promenade walkway is flat and paved, allowing easy access for participants of all abilities. Wheelchairs, walkers, strollers, and service animals are all welcome.
Families can walk, network, enjoy music, and visit sponsor booths. There will also be a special needs sensory tent where children can go to decompress and get assistance with sensory regulation. The event’s theme is, “Empower Through Advocacy,” and money raised will help The Wyatt Holliday Foundation continue its work of helping local special needs families with advocacy, education and support.
Registration is at 8:30am and the walk begins at 9:30am. Booths will close at 12:00pm. Online registration is available at www.wyattshouse.org. Pre-registered participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt and goodie bag. Those who register by September 1st will save $15.
The Wyatt Holliday Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded in 2004. Our mission is to provide advocacy services to families with special needs children, inclusive of diagnosis. Our goal is to empower special needs families in our local community. Therese Holliday founded The Wyatt Holliday Foundation in the memory of her son, Wyatt, who was tragically killed in a car accident in 2003. Wyatt had Asperger Syndrome, an autism spectrum disorder, and the Holliday family struggled for years to get him appropriate therapies, educational support, and assistance. The Foundation honors his memory through special needs advocacy.
