Tutor Agency Prepares for Secondment of Full-Time Private Tutors to Schools to Help Failing Students
Adam Caller, founder of Tutors International, discusses how the government announcement to provide one on one tuition to struggling students has prompted the development of a new kind of contract for full-time private tutors.
Oxford, United Kingdom, July 31, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Tutors International founder Adam Caller has announced plans to develop specialised contracts for the secondment of full-time private tutors to secondary schools following the announcement by Gordon Brown that failing students will be given one on one tuition. The government hopes to recruit 100,000 tutors from teachers that are currently in the system and those that are retired, but it's uncertain whether this would be sufficient to help the estimated 600,000 students that would be entitled to the tuition. When asked whether there was any concern in the private tutor industry about the new policy reducing the demand for private tutors, Adam replied; "This won't affect our business as we provide full-time tutors to wealthy families, and I imagine that the children who already have private tutors wouldn't qualify for the government provided one on one tuition anyway. On the contrary, I anticipate a high demand for private tutors to fulfill the quota, and a real need for specialist advice from those of us in the industry who have a great deal of experience in the placement of tutors. I already provide consultancy services through my membership of the Society of Education consultants, and am actively preparing to help where I can. This is why we're developing a model in which one of our tutors could be seconded to a school to provide help to many students, instead of just one child under a private arrangement," Adam explained.
Tutors International has provided full-time private tutors to affluent families for ten years, many of whom have rejected the school based approach to education. "I must admit that I was rather shocked when I learned the Government intends to provide one on one tuition to students failing in Math and English," commented Adam. "This seems to be a government admission that the model of teaching used in all schools is inferior to the standards provided by one on one tuition – something that private tutor agencies have known for a long time. There's no other way to tailor education perfectly to the needs of the student."
