Brooklyn, NY, August 01, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Cocktails for a Cause: Because Global Poverty is Everyone's Concern
Global Goods Partners (GGP), an NYC-based Fair Trade not-for-profit organization, is celebrating summer and the power of grassroots action at Smooch Wine Bar and Café by hosting "Cocktails for a Cause," a benefit to raise funds for its partners in Asia, Africa, the Americas and the Middle East.
"We want to introduce activism to the younger generation by showing that you can give back in a variety of different ways" said Cecilia Foxworthy, Director of Operations and Marketing at GGP. One of these ways is by attending GGP's "Cocktails for a Cause" and sharing a drink with friends. Fair Trade wine and organic beer will be flowing during the two-hour open bar bringing together neighbors, friends and co-workers to mingle and network. All this while supporting much-needed health care, education, human rights and income-generation projects for women artisans in the developing world. All proceeds from the event will go to GGP's grantmaking program, which supports over 47 cooperatives in 24 countries.
"Cocktails for a Cause" will be held at Smooch Wine Bar and Café, 264 Carlton Ave. in Brooklyn, on Thursday August 6, 2009. The open bar will go from 7PM to 9PM. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Tickets are discounted for host committee members. If you would like to join the host committee, please contact info@globalgoodspartners.org.
