Atlanta Dream Team Productions Owner, a Young Atlanta Film Maker Makes Breakthrough Film for Under $20,000, and Sets Up His Own Theatrical Distribution Deal
Atlanta, GA, August 03, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Director Henderson Maddox released his new film “Five Days In the A” at Movies ATL movie theatre in south atlanta selling out two theaters at a midnight showing. Selling tickets for the special event for $15 dollars the gross for the night was $5,175. Maddox has accomplished a lot in the film industry at the young age of 23. He started his production company Atlanta Dream Team Productions at 19, by 21 he had a music video on national TV. The film which was written, directed, and produced by Henderson, Five Days in the A is a break through film displaying the life he could have had if his parents not moved him out one of Atlanta’s biggest local drug area, The Bluff. The script begin as a high school essay five years ago as he was a senior at a local Dekalb County High School.
The film was actually filmed in Atlanta including the mean streets of the Bluff. Due to Maddox’s family history in the neighborhood the rough community embraced him and supported him in his endeavors. The shoot that took a total of 31 days took Maddox on the true journey of being a film maker. When Maddox started the project in September of 2008 he had only $2,500 to go toward the making of his film. With his mind determined to get the project done he called in favors from every friend to help in the making including Co-Producers Kim Jones and Gregg Galloway. After giving up his house and comfortable lifestyle to pursue the journey of his dream. Is when Maddox said the project was touched by the blessing hands of God. Maddox started to see things manifest before his eyes including financial support from a team of various investors. As he embarked on the final days of production he looked at the books and the total budget spent was at $17000. Maddox calls his film a miracle film. The film stars an allstar cast of Atlanta celebrities from Bonecrusher, rapper Rasheeda, Diamond of Crime Mob, Dennis Goodman of BET , Clayton English, and many others.
After completing the film and having a red carpet premiere, Maddox took things into his hands as he starting to setup up his own theatrical distribution deal. Maddox has booked his film in three theaters thus far including; Movies ATL (Camp Creek), Big Cinemas South Dekalb Mall, and Torch Theaters (Lithonia). The film will be be released theatrically starting August 14, 2009. Not having a marketing budget he has been his own street team gathering supporters for his film and advertising. He is also working on placing his film in other theaters across the Southeast including; Macon, Savannah, Augusta, Albany, Washington DC, Memphis, Mobile, Columbus, and many more. His goal is to secure enough funds to fund his next two films “House on 23rd St” and “Products of the American Ghetto”. Maddox believes that Tyler Perry has defiantly opened the door for Atlanta film makers, He also thinks that there is plenty room for Tyler to slide over and allow others to further develop the Hollywood of the South.
