Free Workshop: Frankly Speaking About New Discoveries in Cancer

Westlake Village, CA, August 05, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura will host a free presentation for people affected by cancer entitled: Frankly Speaking About New Discoveries in Cancer with Shahryar Ashouri, M.D. The program will explore new discoveries in cancer treatment, side-effect management and psychosocial aspects of the illness. This free workshop takes place 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, at The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura, 530 Hampshire Road, Westlake Village. “People living with cancer and their loved ones want to know about the most recent advances in cancer research so that they can identify their best treatment options,” said Marty Nason, VP of Programs at The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura. “By taking an active role in their treatment decisions, people with cancer can improve their quality of life and may also enhance their possibility of recovery.”

Workshop presenter Shahryar Ashouri, M.D. specializes in hematology-oncology at the UCLA Hematology & Oncology clinic of Westlake Village. He received his medical degree from USC School of Medicine where he subsequently did a fellowship in hematology-oncology. Attendees will receive a copy of the comprehensive Frankly Speaking About New Discoveries in Cancer booklet. Frankly Speaking About New Discoveries in Cancer is part of a “Frankly Speaking” series of national cancer-related programs created by The Wellness Community. Frankly Speaking About New Discoveries in Cancer is made possible through an unrestricted educational grant from Genentech.
