Simple, Easy to Plan, Easy to Deploy Rural Telecommunications System Speeds Broadband Deployments
San Luis Obispo, CA, August 04, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Recovery Act appropriated $7.2 billion and directed the Department of Agriculture's Rural Utilities Service (RUS) and The Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications Information Administration (NTIA) to expand broadband access to unserved and underserved communities across the U.S., increase jobs, spur investments in technology and infrastructure, and provide long-term economic benefits.

The result is the RUS Broadband Initiatives Program (BIP) and the NTIA Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP).

BIP will make loans and grants for broadband infrastructure projects in rural areas. BTOP will provide grants to fund broadband infrastructure, public computer centers and sustainable broadband adoption projects.

HauteSpot Networks, a leading developer of wireless broadband solutions optimized for video and voice, provides products designed to help rural telcos take advantage of the BIP and BTOP programs.

First, HauteSpot Networks is offering design and support services to help rural telcos, municipalities, utility districts, and other service providers formulate proposals to the USDA and NTIA in time for the August 14th deadline. HauteSpot will help agencies and entrepreneurs put together proposals for delivering broadband and wireless voice services to underserved, low density markets.

Second, HauteSpot Networks has several products in their wireless router families that can deliver low cost, scalable, carrier class performance on licensed or unlicensed wireless spectrum, including their new HR-WRAPPW system which is a point to multipoint wireless TDM solution for delivering T-1 and E-1 services, complete with reliable clocking, recovery and low latency. This new addition adds to HauteSpots' already impressive line of HauteWRAP routers with a TDMA-like wireless protocol that reduces jitter and improves performance over traditional 802.11 WiFi technology at a cost much lower than 802.16 WiMAX.

Last, HauteSpot Networks is working with partners to deliver nomadic GSM cellular solutions which are mounted on a small trailer, solar powered, and designed to deliver carrier grade coverage over rural areas. These trailers can be dropped almost anywhere, set up in minutes, and operated for extended periods of time with little to no maintenance. A diesel generator is available with automatic transfer in the event of loss of solar power.

This simple, small system includes a Base Station Transceiver (GSM BTS), and a broadband wireless base station which is capable of delivering broadband IP connectivity to end users. A HauteSpot wireless backhaul router can transport data and voice back from the nomadic trailer to repeaters or wired network connection points up to 12 miles away.

Options for a nomadic GSM Base Station Controller (BSC) or even Mobile Service Controller (MSC) are also available.

“A solution like this is simple to plan for, since there are virtually no construction costs. It is extremely fast to deploy, since it can be towed to where ever coverage is desired. And it is extremely flexible, as it can be used for emergency first responders, or can be used to fill in coverage areas of existing GSM networks,” said Charlotte Chang, Vice President of Marketing Communications at HauteSpot Networks. “This is a great solution for Tribal lands, rural Telco carriers, cooperatives, and government entities who need to extend cellular coverage, and it comes at just the right time for people to get some stimulus money for deployment, “ concluded Chang.
