Georgia Native Wins Big with Grand Gulf Getaway from AL Gulf Coast CVB
Joseph Holguin of Calhoun, Ga., won the online Grand Gulf Getaway sweepstakes from the Alabama Gulf Coast Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Gulf Shores, AL, August 06, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Joseph Holguin didn’t listen to his wife, and the result was shocking. When this Calhoun, Ga., native saw the online Grand Gulf Getaway sweepstakes from the Alabama Gulf Coast Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) on AJC.com, his wife warned him to stop entering all of the contests. However, Holguin thought that he might be the lucky winner one day and provided his information.
“I was so surprised to get the call from the CVB,” Holguin said. “At first, I didn’t believe that I had won. I have never been to the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area before so we’re really excited to get to explore the area.”
Traveling with the winner was wife, Arlyn, and their children Ashley, Timmy and Thomas.
His sweepstakes package included a 7-night stay in a beachside condominium provided by Young’s Suncoast Realty while the CVB supplied a $200.00 Visa gift card and Flip Mino digital camcorder. He also received gift certificates to LuLu’s at Homeport Marina, Original Oyster House, De Soto’s Seafood Kitchen and The Hangout. Other package prizes included two rounds of golf on two courses from the Gulf Shores Golf Association, merchandise from The Wharf Store, a week pass from the Beach Express, a family beach portrait session from Camelot Photography and admission passes to the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, the National Naval Aviation Museum, the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park and the Bellingrath Gardens and Home.
“Sweepstakes have become an integral part of our marketing strategy as we promote our 32 miles of sugar white sand,” said Mike Foster, vice-president of marketing for the CVB. “It gives us an opportunity to reach people who have never considered visiting the beautiful Alabama Gulf Coast.”
The 2009 sweepstakes drew over 24,000 entries.
