Mass High Tech: The Journal of New England technology will partner with the NH High Technology Council and NH Small Business Development Center in providing media coverage and support for the second annual Speed Venture Summit™, to be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2009 at the Crowne Plaza in Nashua, New Hampshire. SVS is the premier speed-dating-style event for fast-growth businesses and investors in New England, and brought to you by the New Hampshire High Technology Council and the New Hampshire Small Business Development Center.
"The beauty of technology and entrepreneurship is that it knows no geographical boundaries,” MHT editor Doug Banks said. “MHT has been covering innovation not just in Boston but throughout all six New England states for years. Despite the difficult economy, entrepreneurship continues to thrive. Partnering with Speed Venture Summit makes sense, to help serve both the resulting demand for capital and the desire of capital sources for more efficient and effective ways to discover, screen, meet and evaluate players in the early-stage markets.”
Summit producer Tim Platt explained the association with Mass High Tech this way: “In order to communicate effectively with the depth and breadth of the tech market, we have to partner with MHT, which is the go-to tech media channel in New England. The SVS marketing strategy carefully considers the company that we keep, and we know that we are in good company when we partner with Mass High Tech. “
At the October Summit, participating businesses will represent all sectors and development stages, from start-up to later-stage and will “speed pitch” to the region’s savviest and shrewdest investors, ranging from individuals and Angels to venture capital firms and private equity and mezzanine financers. Organizers expect that a total of approximately 50 companies will speed-pitch to 25 different investor groups in private 1:1 sessions throughout the afternoon.
The “speed-pitching” segment of the Summit will be held from 2:00 to 5:00pm, and will be followed by a two-hour business networking session open to the public that will provide an excellent opportunity for young companies to gain exposure and knowledge around seeking investment capital. The event will end with a pitch-off from among the day’s top companies.
