Author’s New Christmas Tale Stresses Tolerance Amid Season’s Magic

White, GA, August 10, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Outskirts Press has published Aurora of the Northern Lights, a delightful new children’s book from author Holly Hardin that’s destined to become a timeless Christmas standard.

Gorgeously illustrated in full color by renowned artist Donald Vanderbeek, Aurora of the Northern Lights combines a story of adventure, sprites and magical charms with a subtle message of tolerance. The book follows the journey of Aurora, who is left alone and friendless after losing her parents. But Aurora isn’t the same as everybody else, and as she sets out alone, she finds it hard to find anyone who cares about her story--even at Christmastime--because of her differences.

As her trek continues, Aurora receives three special gifts to keep her safe, along with important clues about her true home. Before it’s over, she’ll encounter a host of bizarre-looking creatures until she winds up at the location of the world’s most famous bearded man. And Santa’s workshop might just be the place Aurora has been searching for...

Kids are sure to respond to the adorable figure of Aurora, whimsically drawn elves and other creatures, as well as Hardin’s lyrical prose. Parents and educators will appreciate the important message of tolerating all cultures, which is made without hitting kids over the head with it.

The book’s compelling message and gorgeous artwork impressed author Greg Elliot. “Aurora of the Northern Lights could become for a new generation what The Night Before Christmas has been before it: a seasonal classic,” he said.

Aurora of the Northern Lights is now available through Ingram, Baker & Taylor, Amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, and the online bookstore of Outskirts Press, at outskirtspress.com/store.php.

Readers can get a first-hand look at the book when it debuts at the Decatur Book Festival, the nation’s largest independent book festival. The event runs Sept. 4-6 at several venues around Decatur Square in downtown Decatur, Georgia. More information is available online at www.decaturbookfestival.com.
