Let The Games Begin. Arizona Football Launches New Season with Exciting New Campaign.
Tucson, AZ, August 12, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Arizona Football training camp is officially underway, the anticipation is already in the air, and the excitement is building to September 5th when the Wildcats will “Let The Games Begin” at Arizona Stadium.
The countdown to the 2009 season has begun and The University of Arizona's season marketing campaign has kicked off. "Let the Games Begin" is this year's advertising slogan, which plays to the growing anticipation that Arizona players, coaches and all fans share as the Wildcats look to back up their 2008 Las Vegas Bowl victory season.
Arizona fans can get an exclusive first look at this year's football television commercial on ArizonaWildcats.com, the official athletics web site for Arizona Athletics. Featured in the video is a quartet of UA's top returning players, including offensive standouts Nic Grigsby (5) and Rob Gronkowski (48) along with defensive stalwarts Cam Nelson (20) and Xavier Kelley (15).
This year, for the first time, a free downloadable official ringtone is being made available for a very limited time. This is available exclusively through web banners posted on numerous websites.
The Wildcats open a six-game home slate on September 5 against Central Michigan, a program that has appeared in three consecutive bowl games. UA will welcome the Lumberjacks from Northern Arizona a week later on September 12, and host four Pac-10 teams - Stanford, UCLA, Washington State and Oregon - later in the season.
Arizona has posted a 7-2 mark in its last nine home games, with the two losses coming by a combined nine points to No. 6 USC and No. 21 Oregon State in 2008. During the nine-game span that dates back to the end of the 2007 season, Arizona has outscored opponents 327-155 in Arizona Stadium, or by an average score of 36-17. Additionally, Arizona won five home games in a season ('08) for the first time since 1998. Since 1950, the Cats have won five games at home 15 times. Arizona was perfect at home twice in that span, 6-0 in 1961 and 6-0 in 1993.
Fans can purchase 2009 season tickets through the McKale Ticket Office, by phone at (520) 621-CATS, or online at ArizonaWildcats.com. For Wildcat fans who can't make it to all six home games in the 2009 football season, Arizona Athletics is offering up the Arizona Football Flex Pack. Individual game tickets are also on sale now.
