Race is on for Olympic Contracts

Coventry, United Kingdom, August 13, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Firms of all sizes in Coventry and Warwickshire are being urged to grab the Olympic baton and make the most out of the 2012 Games coming to London.

Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, on behalf of Business Link West Midlands, will present two workshops on how to tender for work and to help businesses understand the process.

The types of business available will include infrastructure projects, visitors to the region and events which will need a large supply chain.

The first Chamber event is taking place at the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce on September 29 and businesses from all sectors are welcome.

Dianne Williams, operations director of the Chamber, said: “Small businesses should definitely put a toe in the water. There will be many small firms who think that only the big companies will be able to tender for business connected with the Olympics, but this is just not the case.

“The event in 2012 will be a big earner for West Midlands companies from any size and sector.”

Tom Clift, C&W partnership manager, said the region should also be looking to attract tourists.

He said: “Millions of people will be coming to the UK both during, and in the build-up to, the 2012 Games.

“Not all of these people will be able to stay in the capital so it makes sense for our region to begin producing a plan to attract these visitors now.

“We have organisations and businesses in the area that are well equipped and experienced enough to produce an effective strategy and I am sure they will have no trouble maximising the area’s potential.

“Coventry and Warwickshire offers some of the finest tourist attractions outside of London and properly marketing these unique selling points would be a great way of bringing the Olympic atmosphere into the heart of Coventry and Warwickshire.”

The guest speakers for the event on September 29 are currently being finalised but more information and how to book a place is available from the Chamber on 024 7665 4321 or at www.cw-chamber.co.uk.

The subsequent event will take place in March 2010.
