Lone Star Film Society Showcases ‘A Quiet Little Marriage’ at Best of Fest in Fort Worth
Stars will be in attendance for interactive Q & A session
Fort Worth, TX, August 13, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Lone Star Film Society (LSFS) will screen the award-winning independent film “A Quiet Little Marriage,” on Thursday, August 27 at 7:00 p.m. as part of “Best of Fest” at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell Street. The film stars Dallas native and SMU theater alum Mary Elizabeth Ellis, who also had a recurring role in the hit televisions series “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.” Ellis and co-star Cy Carter will be in attendance for a question and answer session after the showing.
“We are always pleased to present films that feature local talent, and in this case, a rising star such as Mary Elizabeth Ellis,” said Dennis Bishop, LSFS director. “This is an incredibly engaging film, featuring powerful performances and a storyline that audiences can relate to due to the familiarity of the subject matter. That said, it is at times sinister and incredibly thought provoking. The LSFS is committed to bringing enlightening and award-winning works such as this to the local film community on a consistent basis, and we know it will make a lasting impression.”
“A Quiet Little Marriage” premiered at the 2008 Austin Film Festival, receiving the Audience Award. It also screened at the AFI Film Festival in Los Angeles, as well as the Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, earning the Narrative Feature Grand Jury Prize.
"I am thrilled to share this film with a hometown audience,” said Ellis. “It is so special to be able to discuss our processes, both as story developers and actors, on this very personal film. I truly believe we tapped into real human experience and emotion in touching on issues such as marriage, childbirth, and the death of a parent. I hope our film touches the audience as much as it did me when making it. Cy Carter and I feel blessed to have this opportunity to return to a place that had so much influence on who we are as people and performers with something of which we are so proud."
Directed by Mo Perkins, the film also features appearances by Charlie Day and Lucy DeVito. It centers on a young couple with differing notions of where their relationship is headed, and is further strained when the possibility of parenthood enters the equation. It is a dark, non-conventional tale that reverberates with the unique challenges young couples face when taxed by the complexities of relationships and extended family.
“Best of Fest” is a monthly film series presented by the LSFS, in cooperation with the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, featuring notable works from the 2008 Lone Star International Film Festival and the international film festival circuit. Admission is $8 for non-members of the LSFS, and $6 for members. Tickets are available at www.lonestarfilmsociety.com.
