Structural Systems Building Students Higher Education
Bristol based Steel Framing Specialist, Structural Systems, have completed the £18.6m design and build project for St. John’s School & Community College in Marlborough. Structural Systems have provided a site team of engineers and steel fixers as well as a fully co-ordinated SFS package - from initial design to completion on site. The new secondary school and sixth form department is now ready to use for the upcoming school term.
Bristol, United Kingdom, August 14, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Bristol based Steel Framing Specialist, Structural Systems, have completed the £18.6m design and build project for St. John’s School & Community College in Marlborough. Structural Systems have provided a site team of engineers and steel fixers as well as a fully co-ordinated SFS package - from initial design to completion on site. 77.1 tonne of steel has been used to construct the steel framing sections.
The works, which are in association with ISG Pearce, include the construction of five blocks interlinked with walkways, a new entrance road and coach park, the re-profiling of the existing playing fields to a Sport England standard and the supply of temporary classrooms for the duration of the project.
The envelope is a mixture of steel cladding, insulated render and timber weather boarding on a frame system incorporating composite windows and curtain walling. The roof is a mixture of concrete deck and acoustic deck with a single ply system. Upper floors are pre-cast concrete planks with a concrete topping, the walls are mainly stud partitions and block work. Services include a natural ventilation system and service distribution using acoustic light rafts.
