HAFAS at ITS World Congress Stockholm
Hannover, Germany, August 15, 2009 --(PR.com)-- As ITS stands for intelligent transport systems and services, HAFAS must not be missing at the 16th World Congress which is to be held in Stockholm this year from September 21st to 25th. The software specialist HaCon will present its leading timetable information system in the Congress Center of the Swedish Capital. There, HaCon will show its solutions on a joint stand (M 10) with PTV AG from Karlsruhe, Germany.
Solutions developed by HaCon connect travellers, modes of transport and infrastructure. HaCon illustrates this in Stockholm primarily with its contribution to the congress agenda via speeches and papers. The speeches given by the HaCon IT-experts focus on challenges of mobile navigation for public transport, on the next generation of journey planners illustrated by the examples of Denmark and Sweden, on barrier free timetable information and on real time journey planner information for multiple output channels in Austria.
As an exhibitor, HaCon also sets the focal point on co-modal journey planning with HAFAS from door to door. Visitors will be able to experience how such an intermodal solution looks like, which HaCon has realised for the area of Stockholm. The solution is displayed at the stand of the HaCon customer Stockholm Public Transport (Storstockholms Lokaltrafik - SL): The website trafiken.nu provides detailed information about the traffic situation in Stockholm and is jointly driven by Stockholm Public Transport, the Municipality of Stockholm (Trafikkontoret, traffic control centre of Stockholm) and the Swedish Road Administration .
The general objectives of Trafiken.nu are to offer an up-to-date picture of the traffic situation, to reduce the impact of traffic disruptions and to facilitate travel planning and the choice of mode of transport. A co-modal journey planner that improves all that was developed with HaCon. The features provided by trafiken.nu include information about realistic travel times, about the costs of travel and about the environmental impact. Information is given for different modes of travel: public transport, bicycle, walk, park & ride as well as bike & ride. As a result, the user interface “plan commute” was initiated. It enables commuters to plan their trips intelligently and easily and has been realised just in time to this years ITS World Congress. (www.itsworldcongress.com)
Trade visitors, who are interested in experiencing this and other benefits of HAFAS live, are welcome to Stockholm. In addition to the timetable information system HAFAS, visitors of the fair have the chance to get to know another solution developed by HaCon, the Train Planning System TPS. TPS aims at timetable construction and network capacity management and is running in Denmark and Great Britain and soon also in France. At Nordic Rail from October 6th to 8th in Jönköping in the South of Sweden, HaCon will be present with TPS as well. (www.elmia.se/nordicrail)
HaCon will show the advantages of HAFAS also at Inform Norden in Copenhagen, Denmark, from September 10th to 11th. (www.informnorden.org)
