Sundt Executives Selected for Local and National Transporation Boards
Sundt's John Carlson and Michael Hill have been tapped as experts for prestigious transportation and aviation organizations. Their appointments underscore the resources, value and expertise that Tempe, Ariz.-based Sundt, the nation's 55th largest construction company, has to offer regarding local, regional and national road and airport projects and related processes.
Phoenix, AZ, August 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- John Carlson and Michael Hill of Sundt have been tapped to serve on two prestigious local and national transportation boards, underscoring the expertise and value the Arizona-based company has to offer influential industry organizations in the state and beyond.
Carlson, a vice president for the company, was appointed to the Transportation Research Board (TRB), a division of the National Research Council (NRC), which is a private, nonprofit institution that provides expertise in science and technology to the government, public, and scientific and engineering communities.
Carlson is now a member of the TRB’s Committee on Project Delivery Methods. He is the only Arizonan to serve and was selected for his depth of experience in the transportation and his work with Alternative Project Delivery Methods (Design-Build & Construction Manager at Risk).
Hill, a senior project manager with a special focus on aviation, was recently nominated and elected to a two-year term as corporate director for the Arizona Airport Association board of directors. The association concentrates on the needs of Arizona airports from a legislative and training standpoint, as well as the needs of corporations integral to airport operations. Hill has been involved with the association since April 2004.
Sundt, an employee-owned company headquartered in Tempe, has offices in Tempe, Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona; San Diego, Sacramento and Novato, California; and Reno, Nevada. The company builds projects for both public and private clients throughout the United States, including commercial and institutional structures of many types; infrastructure projects such as highways, dams, pipelines and airport facilities; and facilities for the Department of Defense and other federal agencies.
One of Sundt’s current high-profile regional projects is the $270 million expansion of the Terminal 2 Roadway System at the San Diego International Airport. The company’s joint-venture partner on the project is Kiewit.
In Arizona, the Sundt’s most-touted project is another joint venture with Kiewit to replace six miles of the Interstate-10 freeway that moves through downtown Tucson. To the delight of ADOT and area residents, the expansion is set to be completed in fall 2009, wrapping up at least six months ahead of schedule.
