Citing Entrapment, Summit Defense Attorney Steve Davidson Argues for Dismissals in pc647b San Jose Craigslist Prostitution Sting and Solicitation Cases
San Jose, CA, August 16, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Summit Defense Law Offices has recently received a dramatic increase in client inquiries by men accused of soliciting prostitution. The increase is primarily due to an aggressive police crackdown targeting men who answered Craigslist erotic services and adult classifieds postings.
In these cases, police officers, posing as “erotic service workers” posted ads promising services such as escorting or erotic massage. Following calls, arrangements were made to meet at downtown San Jose hotels where the men were arrested by undercover police officers and cited for 647(b) solicitation for prostitution.
According to Mr. Davidson, an attorney at Summit Defense, these sting operations and prosecutions are a waste of public resources which entrap innocent citizens potentially destroying careers and families.
Some local defense lawyers including Summit Defense are aggressively challenging these prosecutions.
Mr. Davidson explains. “Our approach is to challenge every element of the prosecution’s case, but also to appeal to sense of fairness (sic). Many of our clients are professionals with unblemished records…a brief lapse of judgment should not be permitted to tarnish a good reputation or jeopardize a family’s future.”
