Turner Turns to Training Development

Coventry, United Kingdom, August 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Royal Navy veteran, Ian Turner has forged a successful career in organisational training development and has now boarded growing Midlands-based company Acua.

Turner's life changed forever in May 1982 when 22 of his shipmates died when HMS Ardent was sunk during the Falklands War - an experience that made him appreciate the importance of training and team work.

Following 25 years in the armed forces, Turner left the Royal Navy in 2000 to join Global Telecommunications provider Nortel as a senior technical trainer.

He made rapid progression during nine years with the organisation which resulted in him heading the corporation’s European, Middle Eastern and African (EMEA) Enterprise Training Department.

Turner (50) is, however, now ready for a new long-term challenge and welcomed the chance to join organisational development experts Acua – based on Coventry’s Innovation Village – in a senior management position.
He said: “This is only my third ever job so it is an exciting new chapter of my life.”

“I’ve played a big part in training development for many years with the Royal Navy and then Nortel. Effective training is vitally important in business, but it is not just about the individual, it is about their contribution to a team and organisation.

“The unique learning and development programmes that Acua offer, plus the forward thinking and targeted growth of the business, is very exciting and has huge potential for the future.”

Acua Managing Director Larraine Boorman added: “It is a real coup for us to attract Ian to the company.

“He has a vast amount of experience in the training development field and will play a major part in Acua’s future.”
