New One D Web Site Supports Unity and Progress for Detroit
Troy, MI, August 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- A Detroit organization hopes to start a conversation.
A conversation about how to improve and inspire change in Detroit and its surrounding areas. And with the evolution of the Web, these conversations can live in one place – www.OneD.org.
One D is part of a regional, civic initiative that launched in November 2006 to support progress in Southeast Michigan. It is lead by Edsel B. Ford II and CEO’s of eight organizations – Detroit Renaissance, Detroit Regional Chamber, New Detroit–The Coalition, Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau, United Way for Southeastern Michigan, Metropolitan Affairs Coalition, Southeast Michigan Council of Governments, and Cultural Alliance of Southeastern Michigan.
The site focuses on five priority areas: Economic Prosperity, Educational Preparedness, Race Relations, Regional Transit and Quality of Life.
Media Genesis, a Troy Internet services firm, collaborated with One D and Brogan & Partners to develop the Web site. Media Genesis programmed and built the site.
Most of the content is user generated. Users are encouraged to share ideas in the ‘Share Board’, start discussions in the ‘Forum’ and post events in the ‘Calendar’.
“The One D Web site provides one common place where people can discuss each of the five priority areas and work together toward ideas and solutions,” said Antoine Dubeauclard, Media Genesis president. “Unifying as a region and creating an informed discussion now is the only way to see improvement and change in the future.”
The site also includes: Short profiles of more than 500 nonprofits and other organizations, which are categorized by priority area, a research and report area, and a forum section that will host live guest speakers on topics such as business attraction strategies.
The Web site complements the One D Scorecard, which launched in May at the Mackinac Policy Conference. The Scorecard analyzes more than 75 indicators for the five priority areas, sets a baseline to track progress, and compares Michigan and the Detroit metropolitan area against other metropolitan areas and states.
Media Genesis is one of the largest independent Web development companies in Michigan, offering a host of services from Web sites, to Web courses, to online marketing. For more information, please visit www.mediaG.com.
