NAFA Revs Up Fleet Education in Motor City

NAFA Fleet Management Association will hold a Fleet Management Seminar (FMS) and Advanced Fleet Management Seminar (AFMS) in Detroit, Michigan in October.

Detroit, MI, August 21, 2009 --(PR.com)-- This October, NAFA will bring its popular fleet management seminars to the heart of the American auto industry – Detroit, Michigan. Whether you are a fleet manager just starting out or a veteran looking to build upon years of experience, NAFA’s Fleet Management Seminar (FMS) and Advanced Fleet Management Seminar (AFMS) are the perfect educational environment to help you further your career. Fleet managers interested in advancing their knowledge and understanding of the dynamic fleet industry will want to attend NAFA’s FMS held October 14-16. Veteran fleet managers will benefit from the in-depth instruction involved with NAFA’s AFMS held October 16-18. Both seminars take place at the Marriott Detroit at the Renaissance Center in Detroit, MI.

NAFA Fleet Management Association has long been well respected for its educational programs. Designed to identify and recognize exceptional fleet management professionals, NAFA’s Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) program is the oldest, largest, and most widely acclaimed professional certification program in the fleet management industry. Fleet managers currently enrolled in either the CAFM program or the Certified Automotive Fleet Supervisor (CAFS) or who are interested in learning more about the programs can benefit from AFMS seminars.

The FMS is recommended for fleet managers with less than five years of experience. This seminar lets fleet managers network with fleet colleagues on an international level and ask questions to help address their specific projects in an interactive and intense classroom environment. The program was designed to provide comprehensive education to fleet managers who seek the fundamental principles and practices of successful fleet management.

The AFMS was created in 2008 to meet the education needs of experienced fleet managers and CAFM/CAFS candidates. This intense, upper-level course is open to all fleet management professionals but recommended for fleet managers with five years or more of experience. The seminar is broken down into eight sessions, each session covering one of the eight discipline modules of the CAFM/CAFS programs.

“The AFMS was designed to cover the tougher concepts in the CAFM curriculum in an environment offering interactive discussion with subject matter experts and practical exercises in two disciplines to let attendees gain simulated experience to ensure mastery,” explains NAFA President Chris Amos, CAFM.

Both seminars will cover the same program topics, but the AFMS is a much more intense examination done at a higher educational level. Topics covered include: Policies & Procedures, Fleet Organization & Responsibility, Acquisition & Disposal, Maintenance Management, and Risk Management. Both seminars are offered several times a year at select locations throughout the country.

Early bird pricing for the FMS (good until September 23) is $589 for NAFA Members/Affiliates and $669 for Non-Members. After September 23, pricing becomes $650 for NAFA Members/Affiliates and $725 for Non-Members. Early bird pricing for the AFMS (also good until September 23) is $699 for NAFA Members and $769 for Non-Members. After September 23, pricing becomes $779 for NAFA Members and $849 for Non-Members.

For those fleet management professionals seeking the unique experience of being immersed in fleet education over a week, a special package deal that saves over $250 for attending both seminars is available until September 23.

Participants in either the CAFM or CAFS program may register to take their exam immediately following the seminars on October 19. The deadline to register for testing is October 12.
