West Covina Symphony Orchestra Presents Free "POPS" Concert
The West Covina Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Sylvia Lee Mann, presents “POPS goes the Symphony: to the MOVIES!” on Sunday August 30, 2009 at 7 p.m. The program is presented in cooperation with the West Covina Chamber of Commerce, The Greater West Covina Business Association, the City of West Covina, the Covina United Methodist Church and the West Covina United Methodist Church.
West Covina, CA, August 23, 2009 --(PR.com)-- They’re doing it again. In spite of the challenges facing all performing arts organizations, the West Covina Symphony Orchestra presents yet another free concert. The free Summer Pops “WCSO goes to the MOVIES” concert will be presented Sunday August 30, 2009 at 7pm at the Covina United Methodist Church, 437 W. San Bernardino Rd, Covina, CA 91723. You are invited to “Come explore some of the most popular music in the world, played by your symphony.” Music from many classic and popular movies, TV shows and cartoons is really some of the best classical music ever written. “Come listen to music you know, but never knew was classical.” Hear music from “Fantasia”, “Alfred Hitchcock”, “2001”, “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure”, “Dead Poets Society”, “The Spy Who Loved Me”, “Runaway Bride”, “Seven”, “Tomorrow Never Dies”, “Starsky and Hutch”, “Clear and Present Danger”, “Blues Brothers 2000”, “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”, “Charlie’s Angels”, “The Witches of Eastwick”, and many, many more. Come find out how many you recognize. The orchestra will be joined by pianist Mary Au, returning following her exciting WCSO performance of “Rhapsody in Blue” last June 27th at the “Spirit of America” concert.
The concert begins at 7pm. Symphony Society memberships will be available before and after the concert, as well at during the concert intermission. The symphony will be offering some very special membership premiums and door prizes at the concert.
Free, convenient parking is available in the Covina United Methodist Church parking lot.
