The “Across the USA from the Eyes of an Artist” Tour
Artist Leisa Collins to Go from LA to New York, Painting & Raising Awareness for Youth Art Education.
Los Angeles, CA, August 25, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Launching from Los Angeles on September 1st and culminating in New York a few weeks later, the “Across the USA from the Eyes of an Artist” tour, promises to be an action-packed adventure and a captivating view of the American canvas from the eyes of an artist.
The journey marks the re-emergence of visual artist Leisa Collins (http://www.leisacollins.com) into the art world after two decades of global travels and social activism. USA-based Leisa first launched her artistic career in New Zealand 1976, after she abandoned formal art training and opted to lean her craft by capturing the beauty of the New Zealand wilderness on her canvas.
In addition to recording the scenic beauty and people of America through photos and paintings created by Leisa on the road and promoted through her Art with a Message Blog (http://www.leisacollinsartwithamessage.blogspot.com), the tour will also raise awareness and money for art education for youth. “The future of any community, country or continent on this planet depends utterly on its artists and the quantity and quality of the artists and art in the society begins with the education of our children,” states Leisa.
Heading out from Los Angeles, Leisa and her husband, Bruce Goodman’s first stop will be the famous Grand Canyon in Arizona. They will then head back west through Las Vegas, Death Valley, (the lowest point in the USA at 280 feet below sea level), to the Sierra Nevada Mountain Regions of Sequoia and Yosemite. Next is San Francisco and the famous Redwood Forest (dubbed the world’s tallest cathedral, followed by the city of Eureka California. Then on to Oregon, stopping in Salem and Portland. The next points on the tour are Snowden, Washington, Boise, Idaho, and Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. Famous for its geysers, hot springs and fossil forest, this area has over half the thermal activity of the whole planet. The Badlands, South Dakota, follows; an area renowned for its weird alien forms. The tour will then move onto Sioux Falls City in South Dakota, followed by Minneapolis/St Paul in Minnesota, Green Bay and Milwaukee in Wisconsin. Crossing to Illinois they will visit Chicago and move onto Lansing and then Detroit in Michigan. Next stop is the glorious Niagara Falls, on the border of Canada and USA, followed by the city of Buffalo in New York state.
Pennsylvania State is next, with stops in Pittsburgh, Allentown, and Philadelphia. Then Trenton, New Jersey and the final destination, New York City.
Based in the USA, but international in scope, Leisa Collins is now combining her activist and artistic skills under the motto of “art with a message.” You will find the tour route under the Art in Action page of her new website, http://www.leisacollins.com.
