eDeansm Mass Notification System Protects and Informs College Campuses
Tampa, FL, August 25, 2009 --(PR.com)-- This Fall, students, faculty, staff and campus visitors at four local colleges will be greeted by eDeansm, a mass notification system that is used to help inform and protect college/university populations. eDean, or Electronic Dispatch for Emergency and Academic Notices, is installed at the University of South Florida, the University of Tampa, Saint Leo University, and the three campuses that make up the State College of Florida.
eDean is a mass notification system that is improving the way universities communicate with students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors. In addition to serving as a mass notification system, eDean is a visual communication tool that delivers campus, local and national news, weather, and a calendar of events. The system has a scrolling bar across the bottom for daily information.
The entire system is linked to an Alert Notice and an Emergency Notice portal that is handled directly by the college. Due to the importance of the Emergency Notices of eDean, each display is located in a high traffic area and is on 24/7.
The Emergency Notice has been utilized five times since being installed one and one half years ago; eDean was used on three separate occasions when an armed person was sighted on campus, once for a chemical spill and once due to severe weather.
Local and National sponsors support the eDean network and by doing so help to provide this solution to participating colleges. Current eDean Sponsors include, Army ROTC, On 50, Marines, Grow Financial Credit Union, Busch Gardens, The Philadelphian, USF Credit Union, USF Bookstore, OAI, and ACF Consulting. Not-for-Profits currently showcased on the eDean network include The First Tee of Tampa Bay and The Children’s Home, Inc.
