“Netlabels”, Navigating Rough Seas of the Music Business, Loaded with Forbidden Fruit of a “Free” Song

Moontripper.net label joins the new-found “Noah’s prophetic fleet” made of independent netlabels, mapping twilight seas of this planet’s music business for their share of future fans.

New York, NY, September 09, 2006 --(PR.com)-- A group of unique music producers from all over the globe have signed up with the Moontripper Records netlabel started by Vlad Rebek, a sonic experimentalist himself composing for years under the "moontripper" moniker. Moontripper Records (all things groovy and beyond) is a progressive netlabel that will promote deserving music for free and also actively seek out alternative ways to earn income for its artists.

The world of music distribution and online entertainment has dramatically changed since the Internet's conception. We are daily witnessing a massive evolution of the progressive online music industry into a primary choice of people who search for their new music. There is no magic solution to today's major music business chaos. "Many different models are being implemented at the present time that will chip away from the traditional methods music used to be discovered and distributed", says Rebek.

Moontripper Records netlabel is such new "hybrid" business model that is going beyond just offering free music online (yes, many songs from the site are legally available to download free, for your personal use). Music listeners, besides obvious free downloads, may download the entire album at higher quality for a fraction of the usual price (starting at few cents per individual track). Netlabel reports all of its online sales to Billboard magazine's "Internet Charts".

The netlabel offers an easy access to electronic and progressive music, various dance sub-genres and experimental tracks, mostly under creative commons license, and it explores other innovative ways on rewarding the Artists/Music Producers for their efforts, like minimally charged higher quality audio downloads, CDs and limited vinyl releases. Among the others, Moontripper (the artist) is featuring return of Spacegypsy, the 80s English punk pop princess, in their new “dance/trance” oriented album called "Singular Realm of Bliss". A shorter EP version of this luscious audio fruitbasket is available as well.

What is more intriguing on the creative production side; the netlabel combines a pro-active marketing element with resources to Film Music Licensing, TV and Ad Agencies. A sort of netlabel that is not only searching for people in the industry but combines the best aspects of what already is available on demand. Moontripper is starting competitive "active production alerts" where a requirement is given and music producers can pitch their existing tracks or feel inspired to produce or remix music.

To keep in touch with the current, constantly fusing sonic culture, the netlabel actively attends the creative industries meetings and listens. And absorbs. There is no membership fee to become a contributing creative member, but at the present time, the netlabel is limited to a smaller group of talented producers. There are a few sites out there; but not many of them also act as a personalized agent to their contributing artists. We believe this will improve.

The new netlabel will be a constantly evolving project, but the goal of constant stream of interesting, intelligent music and the focus on the independent producer will remain its first priority.
