All You Need to Survive the Mean Streets of Washington, D.C. is a “Big Imagination”

Washington, DC, September 10, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Outskirts Press, Inc. is pleased to bring you Ernie’s Great Adventures, a new children’s book by Ernest T. Thompson. Ernie is an African-American boy growing up in a poor section of Washington, D.C. He has witnessed hardships and horrors no child should know—domestic violence, crime, crippling poverty, and even death. Yet Ernie is able to face each day with a smile. How? Because Ernie has a “Big Imagination,” an imagination that keeps him out of trouble and lets him think about what life could really be like if he put his mind to it. In Ernie’s Great Adventures, the reader follows along as Ernie contemplates a number of “what ifs?” Should he grow up to be a chef? A pilot? How about a fireman?

One night while sleeping, loud noises and flashing lights awakened Ernie. He looked out of his window and saw a big, bright red fire truck with flashing lights. Next, he saw two firemen going into a smoke-filled building but Ernie’s attention went back to the fire truck. He saw fire hoses, big wheels, and a lot of small and big knobs, but what really got him excited was the tall ladder that came from the truck. In total amazement, he began to think, “I can be on a fire truck.” Then Ernie began to imagine. This is where the adventure begins…

Ernie’s Great Adventures is a heartwarming story that allows kids to discover how optimism, a smile, and a Big Imagination can be life changing. As author Ernest Thompson says, “Maybe that’s what all kids need to get along in this world.”
