Exec Digital Magazine Explores How CEOs Can Better Their International Relations with Rosetta Stone’s Tom Adams
Also in the September issue, CEO of shoe brand Crocs addresses the company’s turnaround, from near bankruptcy to profits forecasted for 2010
Carlsbad, CA, August 27, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Tom Adams, Rosetta Stone’s multi-lingual CEO, spoke exclusively with Exec Digital magazine, found on ExecDigital.com (www.execdigital.com), to weigh in on the importance of learning a new language – particularly when it comes to doing business across cultures. Rosetta Stone, the language instruction company whose IPO became the best performing IPO in the U.S. in Q1 2009, is teaching the world’s leaders how to successfully communicate in multiple languages and breaking down the barriers commonly hindering international transactions.
“If you are showing respect for another culture, and are feeling at home and confident, you are able to connect with people in ways that allow you to work better together,” says Tom Adams, Rosetta Stone’s CEO since 2003. Indeed, several companies on the New York Stock Exchange have reached out to Rosetta Stone in the midst of mergers and acquisitions that involve multiple cultures, including the likes of IBM and Pitney Bowes.

In a sudden turn of events, Crocs, the recently beleaguered casual footwear company, is now touting signs of a recovery with the arrival of CEO John Duerden. In March, the company disclosed doubts about its viability, with news that it had a September deadline to save itself or face bankruptcy. But Duerden, who was at the helm of Reebok International in the 1990s, proclaimed the company would return to profit in 2010, sending the stock soaring by 28 percent.
“There are those out there who have written us off. This quarter’s results financially, operationally and qualitatively show that this company and the brand are still very much alive,” Duerden says.
