Fink Cards Founder in Cartier Award Final
Northampton, United Kingdom, August 28, 2009 --(PR.com)-- A Northampton mum of four has beaten off stiff competition to become the only UK finalist for the Cartier Women’s Initiative Award 2009.
Lisa Warner, the creator of family conversation cards Fink Cards was chosen as one of the finalists from 820 applicants worldwide in the international business plan competition.
In October Lisa will compete against finalists from 12 different countries as she presents a detailed business plan for Fink Cards, where she will outline plans to turn the conversation cards into a global communication tool in a bid to take home the European award, along with a $20,000 grant and an exclusive Trophy designed by Cartier.
Lisa said: “I am thoroughly delighted to have been chosen as a finalist in the Cartier Women’s Initiative Award and really excited about presenting my business plan to some of the world’s most famous entrepreneurs and business people.”
Mum of four, Lisa Warner, first came up with the idea of question cards to make family meal times less hectic and to ensure the short time the whole family spent together was meaningful.
Lisa said: “I came up with the idea of a series of question cards that the whole family answered while eating a meal together. The children immediately began to look forward to sitting around the table giving their answers and we all had a chance to share our thoughts and experiences with each other.”
Using the principles of her homemade cards, Lisa launched Fink Cards in September 2008 to promote conversation and help people of all ages to become both good listeners and confident communicators.
The product has since received praise from parents, teachers and family communication experts who now see Fink Cards as ‘an invaluable aid’ in the classroom and the best way of ‘persuading your taciturn children to do more than grunt at mealtimes’.
