Miami, FL, August 31, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra, LLP (MBAF) further expands its litigation support and forensic accounting capabilities by hiring Marta Alfonso, CPA/CFF, JD as partner in the Litigation Support Department specializing in forensic accounting insolvency and bankruptcy, turnarounds, litigation consulting and financial management.

Alfonso’s broad background while working at a national certified accounting firm includes serving as Financial Advisor and Accountant for Chapter 7 and 11 Federal bankruptcies, serving as Federal Receiver in multi-million healthcare company fraud with other real estate holdings and recovering $54 million in proceeds for the estate and serving as Receiver in state case matter.
Her experience also includes working for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development where she acted as Comptroller for Federal Housing Administration in which she was responsible for all financial, treasury, accounting, loan servicing, portfolio management, and information system functions. Additionally, she served as director of the Office of Asset and Credit Management where Alfonso initiated and led the re-engineering of debt collection and cash management programs resulting in $20 million annual cash benefit.
And as a team member of two "Big 4" accounting firms, Alfonso held the positions of senior manager for the Credit Quality Practice where performed credit assessments of loan portfolios, and strengthened credit and lending practices at mortgage banking companies and financial institutions; and of senior manager for the Financial Institutions Audit Practice for which she managed audits, internal control reviews and computer control reviews of a publicly held thrift, a public bank holding company, a savings and loan association, commercial banks, mortgage banking companies and registered broker/dealers.
She holds a doctor of jurisprudence degree from the University of Miami, a master’s in business administration degree from Florida International University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Miami. She was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1999.
