EBE Ensemble's Call for Submissions of New One-Act Plays
New York based theater group seeks world-premiere short plays for it's third annual festival.
New York, NY, September 02, 2009 --(PR.com)-- EBE Ensemble (Eric Alba, Artistic Director; Joe Mullen & Montgomery Sutton, Co-Executive Directors), a New York based theater company, is accepting submissions for their annual one-act play festival, Elephants on Parade 2010.
Three to five plays will be selected for the festival, which will run for two weeks in February, 2010 in New York. Two of the one-acts selected for last year’s festival, Dated: A Cautionary Tale for Facebook Users by Ira Gamerman and The Interview by Nico Vreeland have been nominated for “Best New Short Script” in the 2009 New York Innovative Theater Awards (www.nyitawards.com – winners of this year’s awards will be announced in September), and the two-week festival featured several sold-out performances at the Red Room in the East Village.
Submission Guidelines:
- One-Act plays, less than thirty minutes in length.
- Playwrights may submit multiple plays for consideration.
- Plays may not have received their New York premiere (though readings, workshops, or productions outside of the New York metro area are allowed).
- Special consideration will be given to plays that focus on characters under 30.
In addition to the play, all submissions should include:
- Full contact information (email, phone, and mailing address)
- A writing resume (any other artistic resumes may also be included)
- A brief synopsis (less than 150 words)
- A complete character breakdown, including ages and any special requirements.
- All submissions must be received by October 15, but earlier submissions are encouraged. Selected playwrights will be notified by November 1.
Submissions cannot be considered for the festival until all required materials have been received. There is no submission fee.
