Siteworx, Inc. Co-Sponsoring CongressCamp DC
Siteworx co-sponsoring user-led workshop focusing on the “Congress” side of Gov 2.0.
Reston, VA, September 04, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Siteworx, Inc. will co-sponsor CongressCamp, a two-day barcamp focusing on citizen engagement with Congress through social media and collaboration tools, taking place Sept. 12-13, at the Institute for Politics, Democracy, & the Internet at George Washington University.
The user-led participatory workshop will focus on the “Congress” side of Gov 2.0 and how web-based social and collaboration technologies are being used, or could be used, to transform engagement with the public. Because the workshop is user-led, participants have the opportunity to exchange knowledge based on the topics important to them.
After the successful deployment of new media technology in the past presidential election, government is increasingly using Web 2.0 technology to communicate with the public. Washington has become a social media power-city, hosting events such as the Gov 2.0 Summit and PrivacyCampDC.
As one of the DC area’s largest independent digital agencies, Siteworx is dedicated to taking an active role in shaping the direction for social media in advocacy and citizen engagement by sponsoring events such as CongressCamp and the recent PrivacyCampDC.
Congressional staffers, tech and social media entrepreneurs, advocacy leaders and interested citizens are encouraged to attend. Interested parties can register at http://congresscamp.eventbrite.com.
Attendance is free, thanks to the following sponsors: NextGenWeb, Forum One, Open Forum Foundation, Siteworx, Inc., Citizens for Civil Discourse, Garvin Information Consulting, GovLoop, OpenMeetings, Congressional Management Foundation, Sunlight Foundation, act.ly, You2Gov, GovTrack, and FedScoop.
